Medium Sized M.T.S 1 Young & 1 Adult M.T.S
Malaysian Trumpet Snails (MTS), are very useful in the aquarium as they turn over the gravel and
eat any waste food or dead plant leaves.
They do not harm healthy live plants, they actually help live plants by moving the gravel around
there roots and in so doing help to prevent the gravel from becoming compacted and the root systems restricted.
They are also very useful as a fish feeding guide, if too much food is added to a tank with mature MTS there population will increase quite fast.
They are a suited to tropical tanks, there breeding is greatly reduced in cold temperatures.
They are not suitable for marine tanks, brackish tanks or tanks where salt is being added to the water such as tonic salts.
They are also not suitable for very soft tank water as there shells will waste away and crumble over time.
You should not keep them with YoYo loaches, other snail eating loaches or fish that are very aggressive.
During the daylight they are active below the surface of the gravel and during the hours of darkness they venture out into the tank, on its substrate and up the tank walls.
You do not need males and females for them to breed, all adult MTS will reproduce as long as the tank is warm and they have food, even if you only have 1 MTS it will reproduce.
They have live young and you will notice these quite easily as they are tiny versions of the adults.
